NOVELTY - Cathode material comprises an inner core (01) and a cladding layer (02) disposed on the surface of the inner core, where the inner core is a substance that can be reversibly inserted into and removed from the active ions of anode material or a substance that can undergo a reversible redox reaction with the active ions of the anode material. The material of the cladding layer includes metal compound (I). USE - The cathode material is useful in cathode sheet of secondary battery for terminal device (all claimed), electronic devices, electric vehicles, and power storage systems. ADVANTAGE - The cathode material provides secondary battery having high cycle stability and rate performance. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - Cathode material comprises an inner core (01) and a cladding layer (02) disposed on the surface of the inner core, where the inner core is a substance that can be reversibly inserted into and removed from the active ions of anode material or a substance that can undergo a reversible redox reaction with the active ions of the anode material. The material of the cladding layer includes metal compound of formula (AxMy) (I). A=Li, Na, K, Mg, Ca or Al; x=0-3; y=0-7; and M=P, S, Se, Te, Sn or Ge. INDEPENDENT CLAIMS are also included for: preparing the cathode material; a composite cathode material; preparing the composite cathode material; and a secondary battery, comprising a cathode sheet containing a cathode current collector, and a cathode material layer coated on at least one surface of the cathode current collector.
