NOVELTY - Noble metal iridium hydrogen evolution electro-catalyst, prepared by (i) loading the carbon carrier on the conductive substrate to obtain the conductive substrate loaded with the carbon carrier; (ii) using the conductive substrate of the load carbon carrier obtained in step (i) as working electrode, graphite rod as counter electrode, containing cobalt salt precursor, aqueous solution of phosphorus precursor as deposition liquid, forming conductive substrate loaded with cobalt-based phosphate-carbon carrier by electrode position method; and (iii) using the conductive substrate loaded with cobalt-based phosphate-carbon carrier obtained in step (ii) as the working electrode; using iridium wire as counter electrode, using sulfuric acid as deposition liquid and forming conductive substrate loaded with iridium oxide-cobalt-based phosphate-carbon carrier by electrodeposition. USE - The noble metal iridium hydrogen evolution electrocatalyst is useful in the electrolysis of water for hydrogen production (claimed). ADVANTAGE - The catalyst: has low iridium load amount, exhibits excellent electrochemical performance of hydrogen evolution, which can be compared with the performance of the commercial platinum/carbon catalyst, and is suitable for efficient and stable; and is possible to electrolyze hydrogen with low cost.
