NOVELTY - Degradation of rhodamine B using UV light source involves adding rhodamine B solution to reaction tube of photocatalytic instrument, adding graphene-loaded silver photocatalyst, ultrasonically-dispersing and irradiating using UV light source. The graphene-loaded silver photocatalyst is prepared by mixing graphene, concentrated sulfuric acid and concentrated nitric acid, filtering, drying to obtain modified graphene, adding silver nitrate solution, ultrasonically-dispersing, adding cetyl trimethylammonium bromide and lysine, reacting, filtering, washing and drying. USE - Degradation of rhodamine B using UV light source. ADVANTAGE - The method enables simple degradation of rhodamine B using graphene-loaded silver photocatalyst having high catalytic activity and stability. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - Degradation of rhodamine B using UV light source involves adding 100 ml rhodamine B solution to a reaction tube of photocatalytic instrument, adding 0.02 g graphene-loaded silver photocatalyst, ultrasonically-dispersing and irradiating using UV light source at wavelength of 254 nm for 2 hours. The graphene-loaded silver photocatalyst is prepared by mixing graphene, concentrated sulfuric acid and concentrated nitric acid at 85-100 degrees C, filtering, washing filtrate, drying for 2-8 hours to obtain modified graphene, adding 0.3-1 mol/l silver nitrate solution, ultrasonically-dispersing for 0.5-1 hour, stirring, adding cetyl trimethylammonium bromide and lysine, stirring mixture, reacting at 180-200 degrees C for 2-4 hours, filtering, washing and drying.
