NOVELTY - A transparent flame retardant liquid based on phosphorus functionalized graphene quantum dot using graphene oxide is produced by (a) dispersing graphene oxide in deionized water; (b) adding polyphosphoric acid and monosodium dihydrogen orthophosphate into the dispersed solution; (c) sonicating solution in step (b); (d) transferring solution in step (c) in autoclave that is placed in muffle furnace at approximately 1500 degrees C for approximately 20 hours; (e) cooling the autoclave until it attains room temperature; (f) filtering solution in step (e); (g) centrifuging solution at approximately 8000 rpm; and (h) evaporating solution. USE - Producing transparent flame retardant liquid based on phosphorus functionalized graphene quantum dot for cloth (claimed) and electric cable. ADVANTAGE - When flame retardant liquid is treated on a cloth, the cloth is able to sustain flame to a larger extent as compared to cloth that is not treated with the flame retardant liquid, the cloth exhibits a higher limiting oxygen index (LOI) percentage as compared to cloth that is not treated with the flame retardant liquid, the cloth exhibits higher tensile strength as compared to cloth that is not treated with the flame retardant liquid, and the cloth does not generate secondary fire. The production method is inexpensive and produces flame retardant liquid which is less toxic than conventional flame retardant liquids, transparent, water soluble, easily coated on cotton cloths, and usable in day-to-day life. Flame retardant property of the phosphorus functionalized graphene quantum dot with binder coated cloth is highly resistible to multiple cycles of standard washing. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - A transparent flame retardant liquid based on phosphorus functionalized graphene quantum dot using graphene oxide is produced by (a) dispersing graphene oxide in deionized water; (b) adding polyphosphoric acid and monosodium dihydrogen orthophosphate into the dispersed solution; (c) sonicating solution in step (b); (d) transferring solution in step (c) in autoclave that is placed in muffle furnace at approximately 1500 degrees C for approximately 20 hours; (e) cooling the autoclave until it attains room temperature; (f) filtering solution in step (e); (g) centrifuging solution at approximately 8000 rpm; and (h) evaporating solution using rotary evaporator to obtain transparent flame retardant liquid, in which polyphosphoric acid and monosodium dihydrogen orthophosphate are used as phosphorus sources. An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is included for transparent flame retardant liquid based on phosphorus functionalized graphene quantum dot using graphene oxide.
