▎ 摘  要

NOVELTY - An additive for reducing corrosion and increasing hydrophobicity comprises oxidized graphene nanoplatelets; and silane pendant group (I). USE - An additive for reducing corrosion and increasing hydrophobicity for use in coating for reducing corrosion and increasing hydrophobicity (claimed). The coating can then be used to coat aluminum alloys and heat exchangers, air cycle machines, ductwork, air conditioning systems, electronic boxes, heat sinks, and automobile parts. The coating also can be used in any system for any component that comes in contact with a fluid or gas. ADVANTAGE - The resulting coating is both anticorrosive and hydrophobic, which increases the longevity of the underlying article and decreases icing issues. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An additive for reducing corrosion and increasing hydrophobicity comprises oxidized graphene nanoplatelets; and silane pendant group of formula (R1)(R2)(R3)-Si-A-(C(X1)(X2))m-C(X3)(X4)(X5) (I). R1-R3=alcohols, ethers, halo, or amine, where greater than or equal to 1 of R1-R3 is covalently bonded to one of the graphene nanoplatelet; A=unsubstituted chain of 1-4 atoms, where greater than or equal to 1 atom is C; m=1-12; X1, X2=H, halo, or 1-5C alkyl; and X3-X5=H or halo, where greater than or equal to 1 of X3-X5 is F. INDEPENDENT CLAIMS are included for: (1) coating for reducing corrosion and increasing hydrophobicity, comprising polymer coating, and the additive dispersed in a primer; and (2) manufacture of hydrophobic corrosion resistant coating which involves oxidizing graphene nanoplatelets to form oxidized graphene nanoplatelets, forming a mixture by mixing the oxidized graphene nanoplatelets with pendant group (I), heating the mixture for 1-24 hours to form the additive, and mixing the additive into the primer to form the coating. DESCRIPTION OF DRAWING(S) - The drawing shows a schematic diagram of a representative graphene nanoplatelet with a perfluoro alkoxysilane pendant group.
