NOVELTY - Stable ternary composite material includes metal organic framework-808 (MOF-808) is a regular octahedral crystallite, cadmium sulfide (CdS) nanoparticles and reduced graphene oxide (RGO) are highly dispersed on the surface of MOF-808, and the size of CdS nanoparticles is 30-50 nanometer. USE - Stable ternary composite material for photocatalytic decomposition of water to produce hydrogen (claimed). ADVANTAGE - The composite material has a lower band gap value than pure cadmium sulfide (CdS), can effectively respond to visible light, and enhance light absorption, and by compounding with MOF 808 and RGO, CdS not only increases the effective catalytic activity area of CdS, but also shortens the migration distance of photogenerated carriers, and the carrier migration rate is greatly accelerated, the quantum utilization efficiency is improved, and the photocatalytic hydrogen production activity of the composite material is improved. The performance test of photocatalytic water splitting for hydrogen production shows that the ternary composite material has excellent performance for photocatalytic hydrogen production. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is included for a method for preparing a stable ternary composite material for photocatalytic decomposition of water to produce hydrogen, which involves: (A) weighing the reduced graphene oxide RGO and ethanol, mixing them in a polytetrafluoroethylene lining, and ultrasonically mixing to obtain a mixed solution 1 for use; (B) weighing the MOF-808 and dispersing into the mixed solution 1, and mixing uniformly by ultrasonic to obtain mixed solution 2 for use; (C) putting the polytetrafluoroethylene lining containing the mixed solution 2 into the stainless steel kettle, and then putting the reaction kettle in the oven for reaction, and after the reaction is finished and naturally cooled, filtering the product and washing with water and absolute ethanol various times, and after drying in a vacuum oven, obtaining a MOF-808/RGO composite material, denoted as M8R; (D) weighing the M8R and dispersing into the aqueous solution of cadmium acetate dihydrate (Cd(CH3COO)2.2H2O) and mixing uniformly by ultrasonic, to obtain suspension 3 for use; (E) weighing the thioacetamide and dispersing into the suspension 3; and (F) stirring the reaction in a water bath, after cooling to room temperature, centrifuging the precipitate, and after washing various times with water and ethanol, and drying in a vacuum oven, the ternary composite material CdS/MOF-808/RGO is obtained, which is denoted as CM8R.
