NOVELTY - A multi-stage hybrid membrane comprises screen, layer (A) containing a mixture of carbon fibers, transition nonmetal compounds, fluorine containing polymer and activated carbon and layer (B) containing a mixture of carbon fibers, transition metal compounds, fluorine containing polymer and low porosity carbon, in order. The screen support the layers (A) and (B). USE - Multi-stage hybrid membrane used for separating hydrogen from multi-component gas stream such as syngas (all claimed). ADVANTAGE - The multi-stage hybrid membrane has excellent operational flexibility, low carbon footprint, and manufactured at low cost.
