NOVELTY - Catalyst (11) comprises: a catalytic component (12) having a first surface (15) comprising many catalytic sites; and a carbon component (13) provided as a layer on the first surface, where the carbon component comprises many pores (14). The catalytic component comprises nickel. The carbon component comprises graphene. USE - The catalyst is useful for hydrogen generation (claimed) via hydrogen evolution reaction. ADVANTAGE - The catalyst has higher catalytic efficiency. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - INDEPENDENT CLAIMS are also included for: (1) generating hydrogen; and (2) preparing catalyst.
