NOVELTY - Epoxy resin comprises 100 pts. wt. liquid epoxy resin, 8-15 pts. wt. bisphenol A and 0.1-0.3 pts. wt. catalyst, the liquid epoxy resin comprises 60-70 wt.% bisphenol A epoxy resin and/or bisphenol F epoxy resin, 20-30 wt.% hydantoin epoxy resin and 10-20 wt.% alicyclic epoxy resin based on the weight of the liquid epoxy resin and the epoxy equivalent of the bisphenol A epoxy resin and/or the bisphenol F epoxy resin is 175-200 g/mol. USE - The epoxy resin is useful: in preparing epoxy resin composition for electrical castables (claimed) and in electric industry including electronic, coating, composite material and adhesive. ADVANTAGE - The epoxy resin: has excellent toughness, excellent electric performance,resin, excellent anti-cracking performance, and high glass transition temperature. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - INDEPENDENT CLAIMS are also included for: Preparing epoxy resin, comprising (i) mixing liquid epoxy resin and bisphenol A, stirring and dissolving at 80-120℃ to obtain epoxy resin mixture, (ii) adding catalyst to the epoxy resin mixture obtained in step (i) and reacting at 150-170℃ under stirring conditions to obtain reaction product, and (iii) filtering the reaction product obtained in step (ii) to obtain final product; Epoxy resin compositions for electrical castables comprising a first component and a second component, where the first component comprises 100 pts. wt. epoxy resin and 0-5 pts. wt. pigments and the second component includes 80-105 pts. wt. curing agent, 0.2-0.65 pt. wt. accelerator and 250-400 pts. wt. filler; and Preparing epoxy resin composition, comprising (a) mixing epoxy resin and optional pigment to obtain the first component, and (b) mixing the curing agent, accelerator and filler to obtain the second component.
