NOVELTY - A negative electrode comprises a negative electrode current collector, a negative electrode active material layer arranged on the negative electrode current collector. The negative electrode active material layer contains negative electrode active material containing a silicon-based active material and a carbon-based active material in a weight ratio of 12:88-28:72. The ratio of particle size (D50) of the carbon-based active material to particle size (D90) of the silicon-based active material is 2-5. USE - Negative electrode used for secondary battery (claimed). Uses include but are not limited to mobile phones, notebook computers, digital cameras, electric vehicles, power storage devices and hybrid electric vehicles. ADVANTAGE - The negative electrode provides secondary battery having improved capacity characteristics, lifespan characteristics and energy density.
