NOVELTY - A filter material (102) comprises an electrospun nanofiber membrane and an active nanomaterial agent incorporated into the electrospun nanofiber membrane, where the electrospun nanofiber membrane filters disease-causing agents and the active nanomaterial agent degrades disease-causing agents. USE - Filter material used for face mask and/or respirator (claimed). Uses include but are not limited to gravity-driven oil/water separation, photothermal membrane distillation, heavy metal removal from water and wastewater, gloves, shoes, sprays, textile accessories for cars, airplanes, trains, and buses, seats, chairs, sofas, construction sites, healthcare, and protective wear. ADVANTAGE - The active nanomaterial agent degrades the disease-causing agents in the electrospun nanofiber membrane, thus providing a mask that is both easy to use and can disinfect the disease causing agents.
