DETAILED DESCRIPTION - A graphene nanoribbon comprises benzene-containing compound of formula (I), as a repeating unit, in which the desorption temperature (TY') of substituent (Y') is greater than desorption temperature (TX) of substituent (X) and less than or equal to desorption temperature (TZ') of substituent (Z'). n,m = 1 to 6;and X,Y',Z' = F, Cl, Br, I, H, OH, SH, SO2H, SO3H, SO2NH2, PO3H2, NO, NO2, NH2, CH3, CHO, COCH3, COOH, CONH2, COCl, CN, CF3, CCl3, CBr3, or Cl3. INDEPENDENT CLAIMS are included for the following: (1) manufacture of the graphene nanoribbon, which involves polymerizing the compound (I); and (2) graphene nanoribbon precursor, which comprises the compound (I).
