NOVELTY - A catalyst comprises carrier and active component. The active component comprises platinum metal and nickel metal component, and is supported on the carrier. The carrier comprises activated carbon, diatomaceous earth and graphene, and is supported with cerium-zirconium composite oxide. USE - Catalyst is useful for degrading formaldehyde. ADVANTAGE - The catalyst has high catalytic efficiency, and can be prepared in economical manner. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is included for preparation of catalyst, which involves dissolving cerium nitrate and zirconium nitrate in mixed solution of water and acetone to obtain cerium-zirconium composite oxide impregnation liquid, immersing the carrier in cerium-zirconium composite oxide impregnation liquid, drying, calcining to obtain catalyst precursor, immersing the catalyst precursor in nickel nitrate solution, drying, calcining to obtain mixed product, immersing in mixed solution of tetraammineplatinum nitrate and potassium carbonate, drying, calcining and reducing with reducing agent including 10% hydrogen/argon for 30 minutes.
