NOVELTY - Hydrogen-producing co-catalyst, is claimed. The preparation of co-catalyst includes comprises (a) adding graphene oxide to water to obtain graphene oxide suspension, and performing ultrasonic treatment, (b) adding cobalt chloride to the graphene oxide suspension after ultrasonic treatment, stirring and freeze-drying, (c) mixing the product and grinding with 1,4,5,8,9,12-hexaazatriphenylene hexacarbonitrile (HAT-6CN) and nickel(II) chloride hexahydrate, performing calcination and cooling naturally to obtain a co-catalyst. USE - The hydrogen-producing co-catalyst is useful in photocatalytic system (claimed). ADVANTAGE - The method: is economical and environmentally friendly; has mild reaction conditions, and low energy consumption; and improves the hydrogen production efficiency and the hydrogen production speed. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - INDEPENDENT CLAIMS are also included for: a method for producing hydrogen using the photocatalytic system comprising forming a heterojunction with the cadmium sulfide and the cocatalyst, mixing the heterojunction with the sacrificial agent and water to obtain a mixed reaction liquid, and then irradiating the mixed reaction liquid with light to generate hydrogen gas. (1) a photocatalytic system comprising a cocatalyst, cadmium sulfide, a sacrificial agent and water, where the co-catalyst is the co-catalyst; and
