NOVELTY - A graphene/high energy-nickel cobalt manganese (HE-NCM) composite is prepared by dispersing HE-NCM particles in solution of graphene oxide by ultrasonication, lyophilizing dispersion to yield graphene oxide/HE-NCM composite, and thermally decomposing graphene oxide/HE-NCM composite. HE-NCM particles are in electrical contact with each other via one or multiple graphene flakes. USE - Preparation of graphene/high energy-nickel cobalt manganese composite for electrode material used in a lithium ion battery (all claimed). ADVANTAGE - The composite has uniform distribution of graphene and is prepared in a facile, low-cost, and rapid method without using special atmosphere or high temperature conditions. The lithium battery has enhanced electrochemical performance due to the improved conductivity of the composite. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - A graphene/high energy-nickel cobalt manganese (HE-NCM) composite is prepared by dispersing HE-NCM particles of formula xLi2MnO3.(1-x)LiNiyCozMn1-y-zO2 (1) in solution of graphene oxide by ultrasonication, lyophilizing dispersion to yield graphene oxide/HE-NCM composite, and thermally decomposing graphene oxide/HE-NCM composite. HE-NCM particles are in electrical contact with each other via one or multiple graphene flakes. x-z=0-1. An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is included for a graphene/HE-NCM composite prepared by the method.
