NOVELTY - Production of graphene oxide shells involves (a) admixing an organic removable substance in an aqueous solution, (b) emulsifying the aqueous solution to form graphene oxide shells coating the removable substance, and (c) removing the removable substance from the shells. The removable substance is solid, gas or liquid at room temperature. The aqueous solution comprises graphene oxide. USE - Production of graphene oxide shells used in particles of article of manufacture e.g. battery anode (all claimed) used for supercapacitors and lithium ion batteries, which is used for hybrid electric vehicles. Can also be used for drug delivery, catalysis, and production of composites for aircraft applications. ADVANTAGE - The method effectively produces thin graphene oxide shells with high specific surface area and reduced diffusion resistance. The graphene oxide shell effectively provides lightweight batteries. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is included for particles, which comprise graphene oxide shell and one or more nanoparticles enclosed by the graphene oxide shell.
