NOVELTY - Preparation of graphene oxide involves pre-oxidizing (i) and heating a concentrated sulfuric acid, adding potassium persulfate and phosphorus pentoxide, stirring, adding a graphite powder, heating, cooling, diluting, stirring, washing, drying, filtering, washing, and evaporating solid into a semi-dry state of the obtained mixture, oxidizing (ii) and heating the concentrated sulfuric acid, cooling in an ice water bath, slowly adding the mixture and potassium permanganate in sequence without stirring, maintaining the temperature of the reaction system, terminating the reaction, adding deionized water to the reaction system, removing potassium permanganate, adding hydrogen peroxide to the reaction system, rinsing with hydrochloric acid solution and deionized water, centrifuging the obtained mixture, and performing (vi) ultrasonic dialysis to obtain a yellow-brown uniformly-dispersed single-layer graphite oxide dilute solution. USE - Preparation of graphene oxide. ADVANTAGE - The method enables preparation of graphene oxide having improved electroconductivity and large specific surface area. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - Preparation of graphene oxide involves pre-oxidizing (i) and heating a concentrated sulfuric acid, adding potassium persulfate and phosphorus pentoxide, controlling the temperature of reaction system, stirring until all the reactants are dissolved, reducing the temperature of the reaction system, adding a graphite powder, heating under stirring, cooling to room temperature, diluting, stirring at room temperature overnight, washing, drying, filtering, washing until the obtained mixture is neutral, and evaporating solid using a sand core funnel into a semi-dry state of the obtained mixture (a), oxidizing (ii) and heating the concentrated sulfuric acid, cooling in an ice water bath, slowly adding the mixture and potassium permanganate in sequence without stirring, maintaining the temperature of the reaction system until all the reactants are completely dissolved, terminating (iii) the reaction, adding deionized water to the reaction system, controlling the temperature of the reaction system, adding deionized water and stirring, removing (iv) potassium permanganate, adding hydrogen peroxide to the reaction system, stirring, washing, concentrating, removing a supernatant, rinsing with hydrochloric acid solution, rinsing with deionized water until the solution is neutral, centrifuging (v) the obtained mixture to obtain a high concentration graphite oxide, diluting graphite oxide with water, and performing (vi) ultrasonic dialysis for 1-2 weeks to obtain a yellow-brown uniformly-dispersed single-layer graphite oxide dilute solution.
