NOVELTY - A negative electrode comprises a negative current collector, and a negative active material layer formed on the current collector. The negative active material layer comprises a negative active material comprising a carbon-based active material, a binder, and 0.05-0.37 pt. wt. single-walled carbon nanotube assembly based on 100 pts. wt. silicon-based active material. USE - Negative electrode used for secondary battery (claimed) e.g. lithium-ion secondary battery for electronic device e.g. mobile phone and notebook computer, and electric vehicle. ADVANTAGE - The secondary battery comprising the negative electrode has excellent cycle life characteristics, durability, and maintains electrical contact between the active materials, even when volume expansion/contraction occurs due to charge/discharge of the active material. The single-walled carbon nanotube aggregates contained in the specific content forms a stable conductive network in the negative electrode active material layer due to its long fiber length and high conductivity.
