NOVELTY - The component (1) has a part (2) made of silicon carbide. An external surface of the part is covered with a graphene layer (4). The silicon carbide is monocrystalline. The graphene layer is formed as a native graphene layer, which is obtained by growth. The graphene layer is formed as a deposited graphene layer, which is obtained by depositing graphene. The part has a surface hardness greater than or equal to 2000 HV and greater than or equal to 2500 HV. The part is arranged to form a pivot pin that is a balance pin. The graphene layer has thickness of between 0.5 nm and 20 nm or between 1 nm and 10 nm or between 1 nm and 5nm. USE - Watch/timepiece component e.g. pivot pin, a mobile and a spiral spring. ADVANTAGE - The component has a non-magnetic pivot pin with mechanical properties compatible with wear and shock resistance requirements required in the watch making field, thus limiting sensitivity to magnetic fields. The graphene layer on the surface of the part can greatly improve properties of rigidity and elastic limit of the component. The component is simple and economical to produce.
