NOVELTY - Preparing graphene-titanium dioxide composite photo-catalyst comprises e.g. mixing graphite powder and sodium nitrate, microwave reacting, cooling naturally, adding mixture into concentrated sulfuric acid under ice bath, stirring, adding potassium permanganate and stirring for 20 minutes, placing the system in oil bath at 35 degrees C for 30-50 minutes, adding 30% hydrogen peroxide solution into the system to produce no bubbles, washing precipitate until the pH of filtrate is 7 and vacuum drying to obtain graphite oxide and then adding graphite oxide into a mixed solution of ethanol and water. USE - The method is useful for preparing graphene-titanium dioxide composite photo-catalyst. ADVANTAGE - The photo-catalyst has high hydrogen production activity. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - Preparing graphene-titanium dioxide composite photo-catalyst comprises (i) mixing graphite powder and sodium nitrate, microwave reacting at 100-200 W for 20-30 minutes, cooling naturally to room temperature, (ii) adding mixture obtained in step (i) into concentrated sulfuric acid under ice bath, stirring, adding potassium permanganate and stirring at 3000 revolution per minute for 20 minutes, (iii) placing the system of step (ii) in oil bath at 35 degrees C for 30-50 minutes, adding 30% hydrogen peroxide solution into the system to produce no bubbles, washing precipitate until the pH of filtrate is 7 and vacuum drying to obtain graphite oxide, (iv) adding graphite oxide obtained in step (iii) into a mixed solution of ethanol and water, where ratio between material and liquid is 1 g:8 ml and ultrasonically reacting for 1 hours, and (v) adding titanium dioxide, stirring reaction for 30 minutes, reacting at 150 degrees C for 5 hours, naturally cooling to room temperature, filtering, washing precipitate for 3 times with deionized water and then vacuum drying at 60 degrees C for 5 hours to obtain final product.
