NOVELTY - A catalyst comprises active component chosen from phthalocyanine, porphyrin and/or their derivatives. USE - Catalyst used in material for catalyzing and pyrolyzing fossil energy material during processing of fossil energy material e.g. oil shale, heavy oil and shale oil (all claimed). ADVANTAGE - The catalyst contains active component capable of reducing activation energy of pyrolysis process of fossil energy material. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - INDEPENDENT CLAIMS are included for the following: (1) material for processing fossil energy material, which comprises the catalyst and fossil energy material in a weight ratio of 1:5000-10:1, preferably 1:1-1:1000; (2) catalyzing and pyrolyzing fossil energy material, which involves contacting the catalyst with fossil energy materials, pyrolyzing in an atmosphere of anoxic or inert gas or non-oxidizing gas to reduce the activation energy of the pyrolysis reaction to obtain pyrolysis products; and (3) processing of oil shale, which involves mixing catalyst and oil shale, and pyrolyzing under the atmosphere of anoxic or inert gas or non-oxidizing gas to reduce the activation energy of oil shale pyrolysis reaction and obtain pyrolysis products.
