NOVELTY - Producing fabric comprising at least a graphene-based continuous or long fiber made from chemically functionalized graphene sheets (S1) comprise (a) preparing graphene dispersion having (S1) dispersed in liquid medium comprising chemical functional groups attached and 0.1-47 wt.% non-carbon element content, (b) dispensing and depositing continuous or long filament of the graphene dispersion onto a supporting substrate, (c) using heat, electromagnetic waves, UV light and/or high-energy radiation to induce chemical reactions or bonding between chemical functional groups attached to adjacent (S1) to long graphene fiber having (S1) that are chemically bonded with one another having inter-planar spacing (d002) is 0.36-1.5 nm (d) combining continuous or long graphene fiber with many fibers, the same type or different than graphene fiber to continuous or long fiber yarn (F1) and (e) combining (F1) and many fiber yarns, the same type or different than (F1) to form fabric. USE - The process is useful for producing fabric (claimed) which is used in e.g. woven, braided, knit or nonwoven and which is used as flame retardant, strength reinforcement, insulation, conducting electricity. ADVANTAGE - The process: is simple and cost-effective; provides continuous or long fiber has a tensile strength of 1.2-3 GPa preferably 1-5 GPa; thermal conductivity of 200-1600 W/mK preferably at least 350 W/mK; electrical conductivity of 600-15000 S/cm preferably no less than 5000 S/cm; Young's modulus of 20-300 GPa preferably 30-130 GPa; and utilize closely packed graphene sheets that exhibit high physical density and chemically interconnected. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - Producing fabric comprising at least a graphene-based continuous or long fiber made from chemically functionalized graphene sheets (S1) comprise (a) preparing graphene dispersion having (S1) dispersed in a liquid medium where (S1) comprises chemical functional groups attached and 0.1-47 wt.% a non-carbon element content, (b) dispensing and depositing at least one continuous or long filament of the graphene dispersion onto a supporting substrate, where the dispensing and depositing procedure comprises mechanical shear stress-induced alignment of (S1) along a filament axis direction and further comprises partially or completely removing the liquid medium from the filament to form a continuous or long fiber comprising aligned (S1), (c) using heat, electromagnetic waves, UV light and/or high-energy radiation to induce chemical reactions or chemical bonding between chemical functional groups attached to adjacent (S1) to form long graphene fiber comprising (S1) that are chemically bonded with one another having an inter-planar spacing (d002) is 0.36-1.5 nm as determined by X-ray diffraction and a non-carbon element content where the (S1) are substantially parallel to one another and parallel to a fiber axis direction and the fiber contains no core-shell structure, have no helically arranged graphene domains and have a length no less than 0.5 cm and a physical density of 1.5-2.25 g/cm3, (d) combining the continuous or long graphene fiber with many fibers, the same type as or different than graphene fiber to form continuous or long fiber yarn (F1) and (e) combining the (F1) and many fiber yarns, the same type as or different than the (F1) to form the fabric.
