NOVELTY - The assembly (100) has a frame (101) provided with an opening (103). A membrane hetero-structure (105) is provided contacting the frame and extending across the opening. The membrane hetero-structure includes a polymer layer extending across the opening, and a graphene layer provided on the polymer layer and extending across the opening. USE - Nanocomposite graphene polymer membrane assembly used for sound generation and recording apparatuses. Can also be used for MEMS. ADVANTAGE - Provides a nanocomposite graphene polymer membrane assembly that improves the function, sensitivity, and efficiency of sound generation and recording apparatuses and other MEMS. Includes a nanocomposite graphene polymer membrane that has high resilience to its thickness, thus providing a very light membrane. Includes a frame having a thickness and width sufficient to maintain rigidity. Provides a highly efficient and small form factor electrostatic speaker using the nanocomposite graphene polymer membrane as the main sound pressure generating surface.
