NOVELTY - A zinc-polysulfide rechargeable flow battery (100) comprises a half-cell (110) comprising an electrolyte (114) containing a source of divalent zinc ions and a static or flowable electrode (112) arranged within the half-cell, a half-cell (120) comprising an electrolyte (124) in which polysulfides are dissolved and a static or flowable electrode (122) arranged within the half-cell (120) and a separator (130) between the two half-cells. The half-cell is connected in a closed-loop configuration through a pump (116) to an external tank (115) containing the electrolyte (114). The half-cell is connected in a closed-loop configuration through a pump (126) to am external tank (125) containing the electrolyte (124). In the half-cell (120), a catalyst on the surface of a static electrode or dispersed in the electrolyte (124) in the form of particles. USE - Zinc-polysulfide rechargeable flow battery. ADVANTAGE - The zinc/aqueous polysulfide rechargeable flow battery avoids the use of toxic or environmentally harmful chemicals.
