NOVELTY - Producing a highly oriented graphene oxide film involves preparing graphene oxide dispersion having graphene oxide sheets or graphene oxide molecules containing more than 5 wt.% oxygen, dispensing graphene oxide dispersion onto a surface of an application roller (204) rotating in a direction (D1) at a line velocity (V1) to form an applicator layer (214) of graphene oxide and transferring the applicator layer to a surface of a supporting film driven in a direction (D2) opposite to the direction (D1) at a velocity (V2) to form a wet layer of graphene oxide on the supporting film. USE - Producing graphene oxide film used in thermal management device (claimed). ADVANTAGE - The method produces graphene oxide film with high degree of crystal perfection and orientation, improved crystal sizes, high thermal conductivity, electrical conductivity, tensile strength and elastic modulus. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - Producing a highly oriented graphene oxide film involves preparing graphene oxide dispersion having graphene oxide sheets, or graphene oxide gel having graphene oxide molecules, containing more than 5 wt.% oxygen and dissolving in a fluid medium, dispensing graphene oxide dispersion or graphene oxide gel onto a surface of an application roller rotating in a direction (D1) at a line velocity (V1) to form an applicator layer of graphene oxide and transferring the applicator layer of graphene oxide to a surface of a supporting film driven in a direction (D2) opposite to the direction (D1) at a velocity (V2) to form a wet layer of graphene oxide on the supporting film and at least partially removing the fluid medium from the wet layer of graphene oxide to form a dried layer of graphene oxide having an inter-planar spacing of 0.4-1.2 nm as determined by X-ray diffraction and more than 5 wt.% oxygen content.
