▎ 摘 要
NOVELTY - Apparatus for electrolyzing seawater to produce hydrogen (18), comprises a unipolar electrolytic cell configured to operate in cathode-cathode mode and configured to reduce the production of chlorine and/or oxygen. USE - The apparatus is useful for electrolyzing seawater to produce hydrogen (claimed) used as fuel for transport or heating or as way to store electricity, and for producing oxygen. ADVANTAGE - The apparatus reduces the production of chlorine and oxygen by reducing the voltage at the cathode and/or anode. The apparatus has a diaphragm-less electrolytic cell that is configured to operate in cathode-cathode mode and configured to reduce the generation of chlorine or oxygen. The cathode cells and the anode cells are fitted with low electrical resistance electrodes coated with at least one catalyst. The electrodes are made of high electrical conductivity material and coated with a protective coating or a catalyst coating. The membrane allows only electrons to pass from cathode cell to anode cell, resulting in a cathode electrolyte becoming electrically negative while the anodes electrolyte becomes electrically positive and further comprising another set of electrolytic cells. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is included for producing hydrogen from seawater which involves introducing seawater into the apparatus and producing hydrogen from it. DESCRIPTION OF DRAWING(S) - The drawing shows a schematic diagram of electrolysis apparatus that can be used to produce hydrogen from seawater.
