NOVELTY - Fullerene-modified graphene oxide/cadmium sulfide catalyst comprises C60 fullerene and is represented as C60-rGO/CdS. The mass ratio of fullerene-modified graphene to cadmium sulfide is (0.1-5):100 and mass ratio of graphene oxide to fullerene C60 is 8:(1-8). USE - Fullerene-modified graphene oxide/cadmium sulfide catalyst used as photocatalyst for photolysis of water to generate hydrogen and oxygen. ADVANTAGE - The fullerene-modified graphene oxide/cadmium sulfide catalyst is prepared in simple manner. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is included for a method for producing fullerene-modified graphene oxide/cadmium sulfide catalyst, which involves: (A) dispersing graphene oxide/fullerene C60 in organic solvent and sonicating mixture; (B) completely dispersing fullerene C60 and mixing with graphene oxide; (C) completely evaporating organic solvent by evaporation; (D) adding ethanol; (E) centrifuging, washing and dried to obtain fullerene-modified graphene oxide material; (F) dissolving obtained fullerene-modified graphene oxide material in ethylenediamine; (G) adding cadmium nitrate tetrahydrate to obtained mixture; (H) stirring and adding thiourea; (I) carrying out hydrothermal reaction; (J) cooling mixture to room temperature; (K) centrifuging separating and washing mixture with deionized water and ethanol; and (L) drying product to obtain fullerene-modified graphene oxide/cadmium sulfide catalyst.
