NOVELTY - A battery comprises a battery housing (7), a cathode comprising a cathode electroactive material (2) comprising manganese dioxide, its polymorphs, or its combinations, an anode comprising an anode electroactive material (5), an electrolyte, and a conductive interlayer comprising a binder (i), and conductive carbon, a metal hydroxide, a metal oxide, or their combinations (ii), arranged between the anode and the cathode. The cathode, the anode, the electrolyte, and the conductive interlayer are arranged within the battery housing. USE - Battery e.g. manganese dioxide-zinc used for grid-scale energy storage, traction batteries, aerospace applications, electric vehicles, power packs, telecommunications, uninterruptible power supply (UPS), and medical applications.
