NOVELTY - Preparing graphene modified metal-based lipophilic hydrophobic material comprises (i) adding graphene oxide having 20-80% oxygen content to deionized water and uniformly stirring, and ultrasonicating to obtain graphene oxide dispersion, (ii) adding silane coupling agent to the graphene oxide dispersion, (iii) placing metal foam in organic solution for ultrasonic cleaning, taking out and drying, placing in a dilute nitric acid solution for corrosion, and placing corroded metal foam in sodium hydroxide solution for surface hydroxylation treatment, (iv) placing metal foam in graphene oxide dispersion, adding aqueous hydrazine hydrate solution to the graphene dispersion and reducing graphene oxide by hydro-thermal method, and (v) drying metal foam processed in step (iv). USE - The method is useful for preparing graphene modified metal-based lipophilic hydrophobic material. ADVANTAGE - The material can cyclically adsorb 100 cubic centimeters of oil, and improves the oil absorption rate.
