NOVELTY - A gel electrolyte comprises metal salt, water, montmorillonite and high-molecular polymer at a mass ratio of 1-2: 10-50: 0.2-0.5: 1-3. The metal salt comprises lithium chloride, potassium chloride, sodium chloride and/or zinc chloride. The high-molecular polymer comprises guar gum, polyvinyl alcohol and/or polyethylene oxide. USE - The gel electrolyte is useful in a solar light driven self-charging super capacitor, which is used in microelectronic device, electric vehicle, communication device, aerospace equipment and military equipment. ADVANTAGE - The gel electrolyte has high cation migration characteristic, low thermal conductivity and low specific heat capacity. The super capacitor assembled gel the electrolyte and the photo-thermal conversion thin film electrode does not need external auxiliary charging system, only depending on the sun light to finish the self-charging, realizing solar heat energy directly and efficiently converting and storing the electric energy, providing a new technical support for promoting the diversification development of the super capacitor, and satisfying the development requirement of clean energy technology low carbon, green, high efficiency and economic. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - INDEPENDENT CLAIMS are included for: (1) preparation of the gel electrolyte; (2) a solar driven self-charging super capacitor comprising the gel electrolyte loaded between first photo-thermal conversion thin film electrode and second photo-thermal conversion thin film electrode; and (3) a self-charging method of solar light driving self-charging super capacitor.
