NOVELTY - Preparation of graphene sheet-activated alumina-carbon nanotube composite adsorbent comprises taking activated alumina matrix, adding organic solution of polyvinyl alcohol, stirring, reacting, and drying; treating in 0.1-10 vol.% silane coupling agent containing ethanol, agitating, reacting, taking out, drying, adding organic solution containing graphene, and reacting; ultrasonically vibrating with organic solvent; adding to heavy metal ions and organic compounds-containing wastewater, stirring at room temperature, reacting, and standing; and applying magnetic field. USE - Method for preparing graphene sheet-activated alumina-carbon nanotube composite adsorbent used for treating heavy metal ions and organic contaminants in water (claimed). DETAILED DESCRIPTION - Preparation of graphene sheet-activated alumina-carbon nanotube composite adsorbent comprises taking activated alumina matrix, adding organic solution of polyvinyl alcohol, stirring, reacting at 120 degrees C for 2-5 hours, and drying; treating in 0.1-10 vol.% silane coupling agent containing ethanol, agitating, reacting at 20-50 degrees C for 1-10 hours, taking out, drying, adding organic solution containing 0.1-10 wt.% graphene, and reacting at 50-100 degrees C for 1-10 hours; ultrasonically vibrating with organic solvent; adding to heavy metal ions and organic compounds-containing wastewater, stirring at room temperature until equilibrium state, reacting, and standing; and applying magnetic field. The graphene sheet is modified graphene oxide sheet containing surface active groups including carboxyl, epoxy, acid chloride, hydroxyl, mercapto, amino, and/or polyethylene glycol. The carbon nanotubes are single-walled carbon nanotubes, multi-walled carbon nanotubes, single-walled carbon nanotubes oxide, and/or multi-walled carbon nanotubes oxide.
