NOVELTY - Positive electrode comprises a positive electrode current collector, and a positive electrode mixture layer arranged on the positive electrode current collector and containing a positive electrode active material and a positive electrode additive comprising a lithium-cobalt oxide compound (I), where the positive electrode composite layer has peaks appearing at 19.1± 0.5° , 36.6± 0.5° , 38.7± 0.5° , 42.4± 0.5° and 44.8± 0.5° expressed as 2θ when X-ray diffraction (XRD) measurement after initial charge and discharge with SOC 100%. USE - The positive electrode is used for lithium secondary battery (claimed). ADVANTAGE - The positive electrode reduces amount of gas such as oxygen generated during charging and discharging process, and improves battery safety and electrical performance of lithium secondary battery. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - Positive electrode comprises a positive electrode current collector, and a positive electrode mixture layer arranged on the positive electrode current collector and containing a positive electrode active material and a positive electrode additive comprising a lithium-cobalt oxide compound of formula (I): LipCo(1-q)M1qO4, where the positive electrode composite layer has peaks appearing at 19.1± 0.5° , 36.6± 0.5° , 38.7± 0.5° , 42.4± 0.5° and 44.8± 0.5° expressed as 2θ when X-ray diffraction (XRD) measurement after initial charge and discharge with SOC 100%. M1=W, Cu, Fe, V, Cr, Ti, Zr, Zn, Al, In, Ta, Y, La, Sr, Ga, Sc, Gd, Sm, Ca, Ce, Nb, Mg, B, and/or Mo; p=5-7;and q=0-0.5. An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is included for a lithium secondary battery comprising the positive electrode, a negative electrode, and a separator positioned between the positive electrode and the negative electrode.
