NOVELTY - Bio-based foam material comprises a cellulose matrix, where the pore diameter of the bio-based foam material is 5-800 microm. USE - The bio-based foam material is useful as electromagnetic shielding material, buffer material, electric heating material, fire-proof material, low heat conducting material, heat insulating material, filtering material, building material, packaging material, biological medical material, antibacterial material and supporting material (claimed); and in the field of mechanic, electric, thermology and biomedicine. ADVANTAGE - The bio-based foam material: has good lightness and mechanical strength, excellent human affinity and biodegradability; is environmentally friendly; can be prepared under normal pressure; and does not require foaming device, addition chemical foaming agent, special atmosphere, freeze dryers and other equipment with high vacuum requirement. The preparation method: is simple, low operating cost, does not need to depend on the support, can be produced in large scale, and is suitable for large-scale industrial production. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is also included for preparing the bio-based foam material, comprising (a) mixing the cellulose with water, and dispersing uniformly to obtain a water dispersion liquid, (b) freezing the water dispersion liquid to obtain a solidified sample, (c) mixing the solidified sample with the organic solvent, melting the solidified sample in the organic solvent, replacing the solvent, and drying at normal pressure to obtain the bio-based foam material.
