NOVELTY - A graphene-Schiff base nickel combustion catalyst (I), is new. USE - New graphene-Schiff base nickel combustion catalyst is used for combustion of solid propellant e.g. double-base propellant containing octogen. ADVANTAGE - Catalyst (I) effectively increases combustion rate of solid propellant. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - A graphene-Schiff base nickel combustion catalyst of formula (I), is new. An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is included for preparation of catalyst (I), which involves adding a dispersion of graphene oxide dispersed in ethanol to a three-necked flask, adding ethanol solution of KH-590 (RTM: 3-mercaptopropyltriethoxysilane) silane coupling agent, reacting, refluxing for 2-4 hours, cooling to room temperature, centrifuging, washing with ethanol, obtaining surface-modified graphene oxide, dispersing obtained product in ethanol, adding obtained dispersion to a three-necked flask, adding predetermined amount of salicylaldehyde-ethanol solution, reacting, refluxing for 2-6 hours, cooling to room temperature, centrifuging, washing with ethanol, obtaining graphene-Schiff base ligand, dispersing obtained product in ethanol, adding nickel nitrate aqueous solution, reacting at 50-70 degrees C for 6-12 hours, cooling to room temperature, centrifuging, and washing with ethanol. The mass ratio of silane coupling agent and graphene oxide is 10-15:1. The mass ratio of salicylaldehyde and surface-modified graphene oxide is 5-15:1. The mass ratio of graphene-Schiff base ligand and nickel nitrate is 0.1-1:1. The volume ratio of ethanol and water is 2-5:1.
