NOVELTY - Treating a sample using glow-discharge plasma, involves loading the sample into the treatment vessel, treating the sample in a glow-discharge plasma formed within the treatment vessel by applying an electric field between the electrode and counter-electrode at the first transformer setting. The sample is treated in a glow-discharge plasma formed within the treatment vessel by applying an electric field between the electrode and counter-electrode at the second transformer setting. The treated sample is removed from the treatment vessel. USE - Method for treating sample using glow-discharge plasma, used for plasma treatment of material e.g. particulate material, and particles, e.g. carbon particles such as graphitic particles and graphene platelets. ADVANTAGE - The treatment method is a continuous process, which allows the sample to be retained in the treatment vessel between the first and second treatment. The change in the pressure in the treatment vessel minimizes and potentially eliminates the occurrence of arcs during treatment by changing the transformer setting between treatment, which helps to prevent damage to the plasma-forming device.
