NOVELTY - Preparation of polymer grafted graphene oxide, involves (a) preoxidizing graphite with phosphorus pentoxide to obtain oxidized graphite, (b) adding potassium permanganate and concentrated sulfuric acid to the oxidized graphite and washing to obtain oxidized graphite alkene with hydroxyl group on surface comprising graphene oxide and vinyl monomer, (c) heating the mixture and introducing nitrogen gas, adding solution containing tetravalent cerium ion, stirring the solution for 6 hours and filtering, washing and drying the mixture to obtain graphene oxide polymer. USE - The method is useful for manufacturing polymer grafted graphene oxide. ADVANTAGE - The method is simple and environmentally-friendly.
