NOVELTY - Sealing device (1, 6) has an elastic member (16, 20) containing crosslinked nitrile rubber and grease. A lip tip (16a, 16b, 16c, 20a, 20b, 20c) of the elastic member is in sliding contact with a seal contact surface ( SCS1, SCS2, SCS3, SCS4, SCS5, SCS6) via the grease. The elastic member containing the crosslinked nitrile rubber has a loss tangent peak of -35° C or less in a dynamic property test conforming to Japanese Industrial Standards , and the grease has a pour point of the oil component of -25° C or less. USE - The device is used in a hub unit (claimed) of an automobile. ADVANTAGE - The device has excellent in follow-up performance under a low-temperature environment, and provides a hub unit that is excellent in preventing inflow of liquid such as muddy water from the outside in a low temperature environment.
