NOVELTY - Silicon oxide composite material (100) comprises core and carbon layer (160) formed on surface of core. The core comprises lithium-containing compound (120) and non-metal silicon-containing material (140) which comprises nano-silicon (142) and silicon oxide (144) dispersed in lithium-containing compound. The grain diameter (D10) of silicon composite material is 3-8.2 mu m. USE - Silicon-oxide composite material for use in cathode for lithium ion battery (all claimed); used in portable electronic product and electric automobile. ADVANTAGE - The silicon oxide composite material has high working voltage, long cycle service life, no memory effect, small self-discharge, and environment-friendly. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - INDEPENDENT CLAIMS are included for: (1) a method for preparing silicone composite material, which involves adjusting grain diameter of silicon source, where grain diameter D10 of 2.5-7.5 mu m; providing silicon source after adjusting grain diameter for carbon coating to obtain carbon-containing silicon-oxygen precursor; and mixing precursor with lithium source, roasting to obtain silica composite material, where grain diameter D10 of silica composite material is 3.0-8.2 mu m; (2) a cathode material, which comprises silicon-oxide composite material, where cathode material, which is composite product of graphite, and silica composite material, or composite product of silicon-oxygen composite material, preferably cathode material, which is composite product of lithium titanate, and silica composite material, or composite product of silicon-oxygen composite material; (3) a cathode, which comprises cathode material; and (4) a lithium ion battery, which comprises silicon composite material.
