NOVELTY - Preparing porous graphene, comprises mixing graphite alkene and/or graphene oxide with an etchant, to obtain a mixture, carrying out carbothermal reaction under anaerobic conditions, and carrying out acid treatment to remove the un-reacted and reacted etchant, where the etchant used is polyoxometalate, metal hydroxides and metal oxide. USE - The method is useful for preparing porous graphene (claimed). ADVANTAGE - The method produces porous graphene surface having pore size of 1-200 nm; can regulate etchant concentration or control size; has high yield production, and simple operation procedure; and utilizes low cost equipment. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is also included for preparing porous grapheme film, comprising dispersing etchant in graphene and/or graphene oxide film, carrying out carbothermal reaction under anaerobic conditions, and subjecting the film to acid treatment to remove unreacted or reacted etchant.
