NOVELTY - Use of solar irradiated reduced graphene oxide (SRSO) based electrochemical sensor fabricated is claimed for sensing of heavy metal ions in water. USE - Solar irradiated reduced graphene oxide (SRSO) based electrochemical sensor fabricated is claimed for sensing of heavy metal ions in water, detecting cadmium (Cd) (II) and Arsenic (As) (III) ions with a limit of detection (LOD) of 45.46 nM and 25.26 nM respectively, for the electrochemical sensing of heavy metal ions in water by Square Wave Anodic Stripping Voltammetry and analyzing heavy metal ion concentrations in water samples from taps, rivers, lakes, etc. (all claimed). ADVANTAGE - The preparation of SRGO is simple by exfoliating graphene oxide (GO) produced by the Modified Hummers Method using Solar Energy; has high specific surface area of SRGO which provides excellent sensing properties of heavy metals, square Wave anodic Stripping Voltammetry is a sensitive technique to detect the amount of heavy metal ion present; and has high specificity sensitivity and selectivity of the heavy metal ions using SRGO.
