NOVELTY - Preparation of high nodular strength fishery polyethylene monofilament, involves (i) preparing elastomer/graphene compound system by mixing elastomer and graphene uniformly through a twin screw extruder where elastomer is ethylene-octene copolymer, ethylene propylene rubber or ethylene propylene diene monomer (EPDM) rubber, (ii) mixing the prepared elastomer/graphene compound system with polyethylene and granulating by a twin screw extruder to obtain masterbatch, (iii) adding masterbatch, antioxidant and lubricant, mixing by melt spinning and carrying out high-speed drawing process. USE - Preparation of high nodular strength fishery polyethylene monofilament (claimed). ADVANTAGE - The fishery polyethylene monofilament has high toughness and high nodular strength. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - Preparation of high nodular strength fishery polyethylene monofilament which comprises 75-90 wt.% polyethylene, 5-15 wt.% elastomer, 4-9 wt.% graphene, 0.5-1 wt.% antioxidant and 0.5-1 wt.% lubricant, involves (i) preparing elastomer/graphene compound system by mixing elastomer and graphene uniformly through a twin screw extruder where elastomer is ethylene-octene copolymer, ethylene propylene rubber or ethylene propylene diene monomer (EPDM) rubber, (ii) mixing the prepared elastomer/graphene compound system with polyethylene and granulating by a twin screw extruder to obtain masterbatch, (iii) adding masterbatch, antioxidant and lubricant, mixing by melt spinning and carrying out high-speed drawing process to obtain high nodular strength polyethylene monofilament.
