NOVELTY - Noble metal carbon composite material comprises carbon particles, and noble metal nanoparticles supported on the surface of the carbon particles, where the average particle size of the noble metal nanoparticles is 3-30 nm. USE - The noble metal carbon composite material is used for catalyst such as electrode catalyst of fuel cell, air electrode catalyst of metal-air battery or oxygen reduction active catalyst (all claimed). ADVANTAGE - The noble metal carbon composite material exhibits improved catalytic performance. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - INDEPENDENT CLAIMS are included for the following: (1) a method for producing the noble metal carbon composite material, which involves preparing carbon particles and a noble metal supply source, adding the carbon particles and the noble metal supply source to a reducing solution to prepare a reaction solution, and irradiating the reaction solution with ultrasonic waves to prepare the carbon particles carrying noble metal nanoparticles; and (2) a catalyst comprising the noble metal-carbon composite material.
