NOVELTY - Preparing yttrium/graphene-modified magnesium-nickel hydrogen-storing composite material comprises (i) preparing 2.03 mol/l yttrium oxalate solution, 10-15 g graphite oxide, 80-90 g magnesium powder and 5-10 g nickel powder/0.01 l yttrium oxalate solution; (ii) adding graphite oxide into the yttrium oxalate solution and mixing the mixture to obtain a mixed solution-A; (iii) freezing the mixed solution-A into solid state, heating to sublimate water and oxalic acid to obtain yttrium(III) ion/graphite oxide composite and heating the obtained composite to reduce the graphite oxide to graphene and yttrium(III) ion to yttrium simple substance to obtain yttrium/graphene composite; and (iii) mixing the yttrium/graphene composite with magnesium powder and nickel powder. USE - The method is useful for preparing yttrium/graphene-modified magnesium-nickel hydrogen-storing composite material. ADVANTAGE - The composite material reduces binding energy of graphene and hydrogen atoms, improves hydrogen storage performance of graphene, reduces activation energy of hydrogen collection, accelerates hydrogen collection and release rate of the composite material and improve the hydrogen storage kinetics.
