NOVELTY - A catalyst comprises nano-carbon and nano-cuprous oxide, where the nano carbon is rich in surface functional groups, the surface functional group is an oxygen-containing functional group, a nitrogen-containingfunctional group, an sulfur-containing function group or/and a halogen containing functional group. USE - The catalyst is useful for preparing ethylene by carbon dioxide reduction, where the ethylene is useful as a fuel no biological data given. ADVANTAGE - The carbon dioxide reduction ethylene catalyst has high selectivity and activity, high ethylene Faraday efficiency, and high current density. The catalyst inhibits the desorption of competitive product ethanol. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - INDEPENDENT CLAIMS are also included for: (1) the preparation method of catalyst for preparing ethylene by carbon dioxide reduction; (2) a catalytic electrode for preparing ethylene by carbon dioxide reduction.
