▎ 摘 要

NOVELTY - Oxidation reduction catalyst comprises: a carbon substrate having oxidation defects in it; and noble metal clusters trapped within the oxidation defects, where a composition of the noble metal clusters and the carbon substrate induce a selective 2-electron oxygen reduction reaction in an acidic electrolyte. USE - The catalyst is useful for producing hydrogen peroxide (claimed) solution on-site via a two-electron electrochemical oxygen reduction reaction. ADVANTAGE - The catalyst provides the ability to directly produce hydrogen peroxide in solution with different concentrations on-site to satisfy a variety of industrial applications, which include, inter alia, chemical synthesis, battery recycling, agriculture, paper production and wastewater treatment. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - INDEPENDENT CLAIMS are also included for: (1) an assembly for producing hydrogen peroxide comprising a container for retaining an acidic electrolyte solution and the catalyst and a pair of electrodes disposed within the solution for generating a potential within the solution; (2) a composition comprising a nanostructured carbon substrate having oxidation defects induced in it and noble metal clusters trapped within the oxidation defects, where the composition induces a selective 2-electron oxygen reduction reaction in an acidic electrolyte to produce hydrogen peroxide; and (3) producing hydrogen peroxide, comprising providing an acid electrolyte solution in a container, disposing a pair of electrodes in the solution, adding an electrocatalyst to the solution, where the electrocatalyst comprises a nanostructured carbon substrate having oxidation defects in it and noble metal clusters trapped within the oxidation defects, stirring the solution and applying a voltage to the pair of electrodes to generate a potential within the solution, where the electrocatalyst induces a selective 2-electron oxygen reduction reaction within the solution to produce hydrogen peroxide.
