NOVELTY - Preparation of graphene-modified thermal barrier coating involves dissolving yttria, europium oxide and neodymium oxide solid powder in dilute hydrochloric acid, obtaining solution (B), mixing solution (B) and graphene oxide dispersion (C), adding zirconium oxychloride solution (A), stirring, adding polyethylene glycol dispersant while stirring, oxidizing, obtaining graphene-modified neodymium/europium yttria-stabilized zirconia sol, cleaning a steel substrate, spraying nickel-cobalt-chromium-aluminum-yttrium alloy primer layer on the substrate, and coating the zirconia sol. USE - Preparation of graphene-modified thermal barrier coating (claimed). ADVANTAGE - The method prevents burning and agglomeration of nano-graphene during thermal spraying process. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - Preparation of graphene-modified thermal barrier coating involves dissolving predetermined amount of zirconium oxychloride octahydrate in deionized water, stirring, obtaining solution (A), dissolving predetermined amount of yttria, europium oxide and neodymium oxide solid powder in 1 mol/L dilute hydrochloric acid, obtaining solution (B), ultrasonically dispersing predetermined amount of graphene oxide in anhydrous ethanol, obtaining graphene oxide dispersion (C), mixing solution (B) and dispersion (C) at predetermined temperature for predetermined time under vacuum until the solution is evenly suspended, adding solution (A), stirring for a predetermined time, adding predetermined amount of polyethylene glycol (PEG2000) dispersant while stirring, adjusting pH to 10 using aqueous ammonia, heating resultant solution to 80 degrees C, stirring for a predetermined time, oxidizing using hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) oxidizer, dialyzing using a semi-permeable membrane, titrating with silver nitrate, observing no white silver chloride flocculant precipitation, obtaining a non-chlorine graphene-modified neodymium/europium yttria-stabilized zirconia sol, preparing 45 steel substrate, ultrasonically cleaning the substrate with acetone to remove oil, surface blasting to improve surface roughness and activation of the substrate, spraying nickel-cobalt-chromium-aluminum-yttrium alloy primer layer on the substrate by plasma spraying process, and coating the graphene-modified neodymium/europium yttria-stabilized zirconia sol by plasma spraying process.
