NOVELTY - Preparing a graphene sheet greater than 1 mu m in length involves combining graphitic oxide with a solvent comprising ethanol to form a graphitic oxide solution; mixing a reductant and the graphitic oxide solution to form a mixture, where the concentration of the reductant in the mixture is 5-25 mmolar; depositing the mixture on a substrate to form a sheet; and heating the mixture at 25-90 degrees C for 3-30 minutes. USE - For preparing a graphene sheet greater than 1 mu m in length (claimed) useful in electronic transistors, superconducting switches and electro-chemical supercapacitors. ADVANTAGE - The process uses milder reduction procedures at lower reductant concentrations to overcome the problems identified in the prior art; and produces pure and flat graphene sheet with length of greater than 1 mu m.
