NOVELTY - The cathode has a composite of vanadium sulfide and graphene and a binder. The binder includes polyacrylic acid and/or carboxymethyl cellulose. The composite of vanadium sulfide and graphene has a structure that vanadium sulfide particles chemically bond with or physically embed in graphene sheets. The composite of vanadium sulfide and graphene includes 0-20 wt.% graphene. USE - Cathode for lithium ion rechargeable cells (claimed) for use in energy storage systems and electric vehicles. ADVANTAGE - The cathode is suitable for lithium ion rechargeable battery that exhibits high initial coulombic efficiencies and reversible capacities. The cathode includes vanadium sulfide/graphene composite that exhibits high energy density. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is also included for a lithium ion rechargeable cell.
