NOVELTY - The actuator assembly (200) comprises a piston rod (212) partially housed within the piston chamber (211) and moveable relative to the piston chamber, and a reservoir chamber connected to the piston chamber and containing a working substance (221) for providing variable pressurisation to the piston chamber to move the piston rod relative to the piston chamber. A heating apparatus is used for heating the working substance in the reservoir chamber, and thus causes the working substance to expand and pressurise the piston chamber and move the piston rod. The working substance has wax, and a conductive distributed particulate (223) within the wax. USE - Actuator assembly for use in an aircraft mechanism of an aircraft (all claimed). ADVANTAGE - The wax actuators are simpler and cheaper to manufacture and maintain. The graphene particulate helps to increase the conductive heat rate of the working substance so that the wax melts to a liquid state and expands.
