NOVELTY - A modified liquid comprises an active component including metal compound or complex formed by blending metal compound and ionic liquid, and solvent. The metal compound is silver nitrate, silver tetrafluoroborate or copper chloride. The ion liquid is 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imide, 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate, 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium hexafluorophosphate, 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium bromide, 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imide, 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate, 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium hexafluorophosphate, or 1-ethyl-3-methyl-imidazolium-bromide. The solvent is water, methanol, ethanol, acetic acid, isopropyl alcohol and/or N, N'-formamide. The concentration of metal ions in the modified liquid is 0.1-50 wt.%, and ionic liquid is 0-49 wt.%. USE - The modifying liquid is useful for modifying layered separation membrane, preferably inorganic membrane made of metal-organic framework, cobalt(II) fluoride, hypofluorous acid, graphene oxide, graphyne, metal carbonitride or carbon nitride (all claimed). ADVANTAGE - The method is simple, easy and suitable for industrial amplification, modifies interlayer and surface of the original separation membrane with the help of active components, and ensures the preferential adsorption capacity of the membrane for gas can be optimized by the active components, and the separation selectivity of the membrane can be improved.
